Mid-Atlantic Coatings, Inc. (MAC) was started in 1992 as a marine tank cleaning company working in and around the Port of Norfolk Virginia.

By the early 2000's, MAC had moved from small tank jobs to rigging, blasting, and coating aircraft carriers.

In 2019 MAC received the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) Military Coatings Project Award of Excellence for work accomplished during the RCOH of the USS George Washington (CVN 73).
